Punk and Garage Records Arrive
By i buy vinyl blog | November 19, 2009 at 04:51 PM EST | No Comments

We just got a handful of primo punk rock records in.  These are in super nice shape and they have original inserts and posters.  You will not find nicer copies of select Dead Kennedys, Dead Milkmen and Circle Jerks records.  They are on the site but will not last long.

For Monty Python fans, We have minty copies of 10 or so of their releases.

There are also 1500 new $1 and $3 records for you to dive into.

Finally, we got a killer garage rock collection in.  Tons of Pebbles comps and obscure gems.  Pete and I are currently arm wrestling over some of the titles but you can take a peak before they hit the site, just call to make an appointment.

We are getting psyched for the December 19th party/sale.  See you there.

Wow, you friends of the duck that are DJs are going to love the collections we picked up this week.  Lots of obscure 12" singles including Slick Rick, Hip Hop, Soul, sampling records and lots more.  A lot of these are in our corner store and many more will be listed on Platterpus over the coming days.

We also got some nice hard rock and classic rock records in as well.  Some Motley Crue, Judas Priest, Zappa, King Crimson and Zeppelin to name a few.

We have met lots of drop ins over the last couple of weeks.  Don't forget that you can stop in most weekdays as long as you call in advance at 847-490-5696.

We also added over 400 $1 AND $3 45s.  Lots of 60s and 70's with more to come.

Next warehouse sale/Christmas Part on December 19th!  Save the Date.

This week was a productive one here at Platterpus World Headquarters.  The racks are up and the back corner is quickly morphing into a proper record shop.  Soon the posters will be up, and all we'll be missing is the smell of burning clove cigarettes.

We also picked up a couple hundred records.  A nice bunch of mono Stones records, some obscure soundtracks and classic rock.  After sending 27,000 records to South Korea, we are being a little more selective as to what we buy.  Hopefully this will lead to a better selection for all of our fellow victims of vinyl obsession.

Thus begins the blog that spoke to no one in particular.  We got in a couple collections over the past few days.  The first had a bunch of soul, R&B, disco, Hawaian and Serbian music.  Lots of those wound up in our $1 and $3 skids.  The second was a small collection with some good classic rock, Joplin, Doors, Commander Cody, Traveling Wilburys, etc.

We have also been fitting our newly acquired racks with castors so as to be more mobile when it comes to warehouse sales.

Here is your song of the week.  This space will provide you with some of the best misses that should have been hits.  Most will be culled from the bargain bins of Chicago record stores.  This is just a chance for us to share some of the records that have graced our turntable this week.  Feel free to drop us a line with your comments or suggestions for future songs of the week.

Streek-Johnny You're a Bad Boy

From their self titled 19XX Columbia LP.

Next Edition, all the mediocre funk 'n fusion acts who can't spell their own names properly get docked one notch for ruining our high hopes of literacy in these times.

I don't know about all that but I dig this song alot.  For some reason it reminds me of Hide Your Heart by Kiss.  Click and enjoy.
