Warehouse Record Sale
Schedule

Saturday, February 11th, 2012

9AM to 5 PM
Don't forget that you can order items at
www.platterpus.com
and pick them up the day of the sale.

This is it.  The last sale at our Addison location before we hit the road.

Hello Vinyl Friends,

All sorts of stuff happening at Platterpus HQ these days.  You may have heard some rumors.  Well, some of them are true.  Yes, the name Platterpus Records has gone the way of the dodo.  No, we are not closing up shop.  Instead, let us introduce you to Cheap Kiss Records!  Same great records, same great (cough, cough) owners.  We know you are going to miss our mascot Elpy Costello.  But hopefully you'll enjoy our new spokesmodel, Josie English, just as much.  You can check out our new website at cheapkissrecords.com.  Still working out a few bugs, so please bear with us.

On to part two of what's been happening: we are going to be moving our warehouse from Addison to Schaumburg at the end of this month.  Just a short jaunt away.  But that means this month's sale will be the last at our current location.  And when is that sale, you ask?  It is this Saturday, Feb. 11th, from 9 'til 5.   Lots of stuff has been coming in of late, so come on out!

And we have something special lined up for this sale. Besides the usual assortment of vinyl that will be on sale for as much as 50% off, we will be hosting a special charity event. We've come up with a great way for you to add to your record collection and also a great way for us all to give back a little bit. For a suggested $10 donation (you can give more if you like) you will receive a mystery box of approximately 100 LPs (these will come from our $1 bulk records). The monies collected from the "mystery box" promotion will be donated to the Love Hope Strength Foundation. LHSF bills itself as “The Leading Rock ‘n’ Roll Cancer Foundation”. LHSF builds and supports cancer centers around the world, registers people for the international marrow donor lists, and raises awareness of global cancer needs. LHSF was co-founded by Mike Peters, singer for ‘80s rockers The Alarm, who is a cancer survivor himself.  More info can be found at lovehopestrength.org

So please join us for our last sale in Addison.  We're not sure yet when we'll be able to have a sale at the new location.  It could be awhile.  So you better stock up on vinyl while you can!  We truly have a blast at these sales.  We love hanging out with fellow music lovers.  And we thank you for supporting us over the last five years.  Hopefully we'll see you this Saturday.  And bring a friend.  Or ten!

I can't wait to hang out and listen to some music with all my fellow victims of vinyl obsession!

Bring a friend, bring your brother, bring that crazy old guy from down the street that is always yammering on about how much better vinyl sounds than CDs.

Oh wait, that's me.

See you there!

Do you have a box of records in your attic?
A stack of 45's out in the garage?
A collection of obscure LPs languishing down in the basement?
If so,

WE WANT THEM!

We can't get enough vinyl.  The search has become a bit of an obsession.  Thrift stores, record shops, garage sales, flea markets, I've hit them all in the search for pieces of plastic that contain the greatest hits ever.

Contact us to come out and offer you cash on the spot for the items we are interested in.  In the event that we cannot use your items, we'll offer you the opportunity to donate them, take them away,  and provide you with a receipt for tax purposes.  Check with your friends and family members and earn a great finders fee.

I used to have over 4000 CDs, and they left me cold.  You've heard the story before.  Sterile sound, not a large enough canvas for cover and liner notes, blah, blah, blah.  The truth of the matter is that I felt no real need to own a CD.  Once I listened to it and made mix CD's of my favorite songs, they sat on the shelf.  That's why, apart from a few hundred or so that I held on to, they had to go.  Most have been sold already, the balance are available at
www.shadesofgreymusic.com.

Vinyl, on the other hand, takes me back.  I can still pull out the oldest records in my collection and find solace in the artifacts of my youth.
